My Headband Collection

I cant believe it’s almost the end of August! Summer has gone by so quickly even with the current circumstances. I’ll be going back to University in September to get my Master’s and I’m really excited about it! I’m usually the type to do my makeup and wear cute clothes to class, and I’ll probably still try to look cute for the online lectures. Of course, for online lectures people probably won’t see anything past my chest so that means I’ll get to spend extra time on my makeup & hair. I use to hate dealing with my hair but now that I have cute hair accessories it’s starting to be more fun. Over the last year I’ve managed to get a relatively small collection of headbands and I figured now would be a good time to show them off. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the links to these anymore, I assume some are sold out but I’m sure you could find similar ones somewhere online!

Beige Tartan Gossip Girl Headband (etsy)

The perfect headband for a Blair Waldorf wannabe. I got this cute headband off Etsy last summer and I absolutely love it! It’s super comfy to wear and totally chic. I definitely feel like I’m in Gossip Girl when I wear it.

Black Velvet and Pearl Braided Headband (Primark)

This is a super cute headband that will make almost any outfit fancy. It’s comfortable to wear and you’re sure to get some compliments on it. Personally, I like wearing this headband with a cute dress or skirt but it could easily dress up a jeans & top outfit.

Black Velvet Headband (Primark)

This Primark headband is comfortable and casual. Since it’s black it can go with any outfit. Plus, it has a slight shimmer to it which adds a little something extra to the headband.

Red Bow Headband (Nordstrom)

This is such a cute headband and totally reminds me of something I would’ve worn as a child. The red is a bit orangey and the bow is simply adorable. I have a few outfits that I like wearing with this headband, especially in the fall with a blood orange lipstick.

Thin Gem Studded Headband (Nordstrom)

This is my favourite headband to wear to fancy events. Granted I haven’t worn it recently due to COVID, but it’s one of my favourites. The gems are sparkly but not overly and the headband itself is thin, so perfect to wear with different hair styles.

My Fangirl Merch!

I’ve always been a fangirl and one of the things that a fangirl does is acquire a decent amount of merchandise. I’m a fan of many different T.V shows, musicians, actors and such. So, I have a fun little collection of merchandise. I decided to share with you guys some of the merch I’ve acquired over the last few years. Obviously, this does not include any of the One Direction merch I got as teenager…because I had a lot. I’ve accumulated these merch items over the last 3 years as I found myself feeling proud of the things I love and wanting to show them off. I did go through a period when I pushed my fangirling and merch wearing instincts down but now I realize it’s a part of who I am and I love it!

Clueless Graphic Long Sleeve

Who doesn’t love this 90s classic? Clueless is a great movie and I’ve always related to Cher – on some level. I saw this sweater at the Urban Planet in the outlet mall near St. Catherine’s. It was just too cute to pass up!

Jonas Brothers Tie-Dye Shirt

I went to the Jonas Brothers concert in London a few weeks back and I had the best time! It was such a throwback as the last time I’d seen them in concert I was 12 or 14 years old. I spotted this blue tie-dyed shirt at the merch table and knew I needed it. This shirt is super cute tucked into jeans or high waisted shorts. I can’t wait to wear it some more!

Peter Pan Bracelet

Of all the Disney movies, Peter Pan was my favourite growing up. I used to dream about Peter taking me away Neverland. The movie really resonated with me and I’ve always had a love for it. When I saw this bracelet at a cute market in Belfast I just knew I had to get it!

Into the Light Harry Styles Shirt

As a massive Harry Styles fan I always love supporting other fans of his by buying their art and such. I spotted Allyne’s shirts on Twitter and new that I had to get my hands on some. I ended up purchasing three of her shirts but I have to say that the Step Into the Light shirt is my favourite one! Tucking it into my high-waisted black jeans is one of my favourite looks.

Scoops Ahoy Top

Scoops Troop 4ever! As a huge Stranger Things fan I knew I had to get this shirt when I saw it at Urban Behavior. The scoops troop were my favourite team from season 3 of Stranger Things. I just loved watching Steve, Dustin, Erica and Robin interact together, as in opinion, they were the funniest part about season 3. Wearing this shirt is my way of showing my love and support for the show, plus it’s cute!

Clickbait Sweater

I’m not gonna lie, I love watching David Dobrik’s vlogs. They’re just so entertaining! My little brother is a huge fan of his and got me into David’s vlogs. For Christmas 2018 I decided to get my brother the classic red Clickbait hoodie. I also decided to get myself a black Clickbait sweater. It was a great decision because it’s such a comfy sweater and I still wear it today! It’s become one of my favourite loungewear items.

Camp Half-Blood T-Shirt

I ordered this shirt on Etsy and I’m sooo glad I did! The Percy Jackson books were my favourite in elementary and middle school. They recently announced that it was going to be turned into a TV series with Disney+ and I’m so excited to see it! The Percy Jackson books were such a safe haven for me as a kid and I really connected with them, which is why I wanted a Camp Half-Blood shirt. Now, I know that in the books the shirts are orange but that colour is not cute on me so I got it in black instead. If you want a shirt like this I defs recommend you check out the Etsy shop linked above!

If you have any merch that you love please tell me about it in the comments! I’d love to see what you guys are into.

Favourite Hair Accessories – Summer 2019

I have to admit, I’ve never been good at styling or accessorizing my hair. I typically just leave it down (after blow-drying it) or I curl it. My hair is almost never tied up and in the past I’ve barely ever used headbands or barrettes. However, lately I’ve been trying to change the way I style my hair and these items have been helping me a lot!

Hair Bobbles

I’m truly obsessed with hair bobbles. I got these ones in my summer FabFitFun box and I love them! I like using these to tie my hair up into a bun while I sleep as they don’t leave marks in my hair. So, when I wake up my hair is mark-free with plenty of volume. Plus, the colours of these hair bobbles are so summery and look great as makeshift bracelets.

Trendy Barrettes from Amazon

The barrette trend has been sweeping social media and I’m so here for it. I wasn’t sure where to buy them but thankfully Carrie Dayton, one of my favourite YouTubers, talked about the ones she got from Amazon. I bought them pretty much right after watching her videos because they looked so cute on her and I knew I could trust her opinion.

Well, I got them in the mail and they’re so cute! They look adorable on and their grip is strong enough so that they don’t fall out of your hair. I’m very happy to be basic af and wear my barrettes all day long.

Nordstrom Rack Hair Clips

These hair clips look super cute and they’re great at holding a bunch of hair even though they’re small. I love shopping at Nordstrom Rack so I’m super glad I found these and bought them because they’re very cute and easy to use.

Anthropologie Hair Clips

Ok so my mom and I both love these large hair clips! She’s always using them to put her hair up and I love using these in the shower to keep my hair from getting wet. The clips are decently sturdy and will keep your hair up for a good amount of time.

Urban Outfitters Velvet Scrunchies (not pictured)

Ahhh I love these!! Not only are they super cute, but you can wear them around your wrist or use them to tie up your hair (which is obviously its intended use). If you tie them around three times they will stay in place but if you like a looser ponytail look then tying them around twice if good enough. They are a little pricey since they’re from UO but you can probably get similar ones from Amazon, Target or Walmart.

That’s it for my favourite hair accessories to use this summer! I have a few blog posts planned for august on books that I’ve been reading and my experience with applying for a UK visa so keep an eye out for those.

Stay rosy,

Closet Clean Out Tips

Hey guys! I know I haven’t posted anything on here in a while and I’ll write another post on the reasons why. But, I recently wrote an article for HerCampus that I really love and feel that it would fit well on my blog. You can read the article here or read it below as I’ll re-write it.

Spring is almost here which means that it’s time to spring clean the heck out of your life. Cleaning out and organizing your closet is an important part of the spring cleaning ritual. It’ll also help you free up some space for some new clothes for the summer season. Here are some tips to get you started on your closet cleaning.

1. Lay out your clothes

This first step is important because you have to be able to see what you’re working with. So, take all your clothes off their hangers or out of their drawers and lay them out on your bed. You can lay out them by category (tops, dresses, bottoms, accessories) or just put them all in one big pile.

2. Out with the old

Once you’ve got all your clothes laying in front of you, start splitting them up into 3 piles; yes, no and maybe. Sort all of your ‘no’ clothes into boxes or bags to give them away to charity or to throw them out if they’re really torn up. Keep your ‘yes’ clothes on the bed, don’t start hanging anything up until you’ve gone through the tough ‘maybe’ category. For the ‘maybe’ category keep these tips in mind when you’re deciding to either keep an item or give it away: 1) when was the last time I wore this item? If it’s been more than a year or you don’t remember then it goes in the ‘no’ pile. 2) Is this item like another item(s)? If yes, then you don’t need it so it’s a no. 3) Does this item still fit and is it torn up? And finally, 4) Do I love this item and is it comfortable to wear? Remember to only keep the pieces you truly love and will keep wearing.

3. Organization is key

This is my favourite step! I love organizing my closet in a colour coded fashion by item. I hang my clothes in four categories: tops, skirts, dresses and rompers. Then, I organize each category by colour in somewhat of a rainbow order (white, beige, red, pink, purple, blue, grey, black). To maximize space, I purchased some hangers that have 4 spaces to hang clothes so I’ll have 4 white tops on one of those. Also, invest in some fabric or plastic bins to put on the shelf above your hanger rod (if you have one) that way you can fill those with PJ’s, undergarments, belts or anything else that you don’t need to hang up. Now your closet has been properly cleaned out and organized!

Hopefully once you’ve clean-out and organized your closet you’ll much better and ready to add some new pieces! Also, if you need more tips for closet clean-outs or figuring out what to buy check out Erin Elizabeth on YouTube, she gives great tips!
